MY STORY
My name is Sem Jones. I am a 24-year-old documentary filmmaker with a background in wildlife photography, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
In 2019, I completed the FGASA Field Guide and Back-Up Trails Guide course in South Africa. Shortly after, I began my bachelor’s degree in Film at the HBO Dutch Filmers Academy in Amsterdam.
I am currently writing my thesis, which explores the storytelling techniques used in nature and environmental documentaries and their impact on conservation efforts.
I have always been fascinated by our relationship with animals and the environment. Through film, I aim to create awareness, understanding, and convey complex topics through powerful storytelling. My goal is to tell the stories of those who dedicate their lives to preserving the natural world.
My latest project features the story of Isaac Kehimkar, also known as “The Butterfly Man of India.” Isaac brings people closer to nature by showing them the magic of butterflies.
